For the last few decades we seem to have been taking a very hands on role in the middle east. I propose a new policy. As opposed to the traditional wars in which we enter the nation and try to make it better for its people, I suggest we simply assassinate the leaders who make our world less safe, and let the chips fall where they may. there will likely be some other power hungry dictator who takes his place, and if that guy continues killing his own people/building nukes/destabilizing the region, we can assassinate him too... I'm sure the third guy will behave.

Whats the purpose of a regime change? What good does it do us? we want the bad guy to change his behavior, he won't. we can quietly remove him from power.

this plan is not a catch-all solution. If Kim Jong Il was killed, it will likely start a war between the DPRK and South Korea. but for a situation like Iran? if the right people were killed I believe it will stablize the region.

In  any case, assassination is a  method we have never used, but it may behoove us to consider it in future situations.
